Even under the best circumstances, having a new baby at home can be stressful.
As the saying goes, it really does take a village to raise a child. While a ‘village’ in today’s society might not be necessary, it’s safe to say that many of us wouldn’t mind the support that it brings.
We are all coming from different backgrounds and places in life. This might be your first baby, or your fifth. You might be a single parent or you’ve been married for years. Family might be across the country or across the street. Whatever the situation, it can be comforting to know that you aren’t going through this alone.
Paradise Coast Doulas is always looking for the best way to serve our clients. Well, you asked and we listened! We are proud to present the newest addition to our family: Virtual Village.
Virtual Village is an all-inclusive online support group. Whether you have questions about postpartum depression, breastfeeding, normal newborn behavior, or you just want to brag about how stinkin’ cute your little one is– we will cover it all! The best part about it is that you can take advantage of all of this from the comfort of your own home. There is no need to worry or stress about getting everyone ready and packed to leave the house to make it somewhere on time. We all know that is next to impossible with kids! With the Virtual Village, you can keep up with the group from near or far, on vacation or on the couch. The power is in your hands!
What is included in the Virtual Village?
During the four-week-long session you will have access to:
- weekly phone conversations with a postpartum doula usually lasting about an hour
- unlimited email support where all concerns or questions will be answered within a 24 hour period
- two 2-hour sessions of online group support where all participants can talk, rant, rave, laugh and have fun with fellow parents in a safe, judgement free environment. The online groups will have the option for both calling or videoing in. These groups sessions will also be lead by a postpartum doula and will have a day time or evening option so everyone’s busy schedule is taken into consideration. Some sessions may even have local professionals sit in as guest hosts. These guests will include International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, psychologists, chiropractors, and so many more!
- a secret Facebook group where you can get even more support.
The groups are organized by your baby’s age so subjects and group sessions remain relevant to where you are in your parenting journey. The groups are also small enough to keep that personal, intimate feel yet they are diverse enough to gain insight in unfamiliar topics.
The cost of this 4 week program is a steal at $250 (which is only $12.50 an hour)! When you think about it, therapy sessions cost more in two or three visits. This is also a great idea for a baby shower or Mother’s Day gift. Give that special new mom in your life access to a wealth of information and support. It truly is the gift that keeps on giving!
We hope you will join us in building the Virtual Village, and take advantage of this wonderfully convenient support group.
